I remember that a few weeks ago I was feeling pretty nostalgic and watching old episodes of the drama ER while I was washing dishes, they played the song, Over My Head (originally recorded as Cable Car) by The Fray, a Denver-based group. This kind of music, poignant and filled with guitar sounds is totally up my alley

Meet Wenlock and Mandeville, the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic mascots. The characters “were created from the last two drops of British steel used for the London 2012 Olympic Stadium.” I prefer old school animal-like mascots, but conventional or not, the London 2012 mascots are downright ugly.

A lot of people ask me if I ever sleep, because I am so extremely busy yet I am able to crank out content on a regular basis on my blog. Primarily, as I have said before, I write for myself, mostly to keep a record of the stuff I’ve done.

Since the Ibiza nightlife is nothing if not extensive, this will have to be a brief overview bringing you the highlights in no particular order and skimming over the countless, and often nameless, clubs and bars that regularly spring up before disappearing again the next week. Perhaps the most impressive club, as well as the most appropriate name, is Amnesia

This curry seemed to be perfect for a weeknight meal. No grinding masalas , no chopping onions! My kind of a curry for a busy day! I have absolutely no idea about how authentic this dish is, as I have modified it from the Prestige recipe booklet to suit our taste. Mutter Shufta Recipe inspired by Prestige Recipe booklet Ingredients 2 cups green peas (I used frozen peas) 1/2 cup part skim ricotta cheese (or mawa/khoya/khava) 1/2 cup plain yogurt salt to taste 1/2 tsp paprika 1 tsp Kashmiri Garam Masala Tempering 1 tbsp mustard oil A pinch of asafoetida 1/2 tsp turmeric powder 1/2 tsp cumin seeds Garnish 1 tbsp crushed kasoori methi Method 1.

Mango is undoubtedly the King of fruits, at least for me, and I bet several others would agree with me on this one! With a beautiful color, rich creamy pulp and unbeatable taste, mangoes hold a special place in every recipe. Though they are great to just consume by themselves, they do add a special touch to the food they are paired with, especially desserts. So here’s a household favorite – rich creamy Mango Ice Cream, made without using an ice cream maker! And I add a hint of Cardamom to the..

In July of 1928 the Communist Party in the United States opened a public cafeteria on the ground floor of their headquarters in New York City, home also to The Daily Worker. The headquarters, known as the Workers’ Centre, was at 26-28 Union Square East and also contained a cooperative barber shop in which the barbers did not accept tips.

I began my journey to Victoria by transit taking the Canada Line from Broadway and Cambie (Broadway City Hall Station) to Bridgeport Station in Richmond. Note that the 620 from Bridgeport to Tsawassen ONLY runs every half hour, so if you miss it, most likely you will have to wait about 30 minutes for the next one (and chances are, you will miss the ferry you actually wanted to take). That happened to me, as I left Broadway and Cambie at 1.40pm and I made it to Bridgeport in time for the 2.27pm bus (as I got to the stop BARELY AFTER 1:57pm, so I missed the bus).

Julia, Joy, and I have all been working together since mid-February, but somehow we have never gotten around to going out for drinks after work until today – just days before Julia leaves and weeks before Joy and I are finished. Figures we’d find a good place now! First, we stopped by the Copley farmers market – the season started today! (I’ll write a post about our trip to the market next.

I was invited by Paul Holmes (IdeaZone.ca) to give a talk at WordCamp Victoria 2010. Having already spoken at the 2009 edition, I figured I would do a brand new presentation. I have discovered in the past year that writing a brand new talk or preparing a completely new slide deck challenges me to think in different ways about the same issues.
