Finding budget accommodation in Verona is, in fact, not that difficult at it seems to be a city which has taken up the Bed&Breakfast formula more readily than other tourist locations in Italy. Verona is a fabulous city to visit – small but large enough to be interesting for a couple of days, picturesque and not to mention the scene of wonderful opera in the summer. UK newspaper the Guardian has put together a ranking of Verona’s best B&Bs, which can still be a little pricey but it’s not an exhaustive list

Fork in the Road notes that sometimes Sam Sifton’s prose crosses the line from the mere poetic to reading like actual spoken word poetry. They combine his most dramatic outbursts into one metaphor and simile-ridden piece that begins, “Saturday night in the neighborhood that once gave America fever .” [FitR]

Cockroaches may be the food bloggers of the insect world, using “foraging pheromones” to recommend good food sources to their peers, new research suggests. These findings could explain why the unfortunate crunch of one cockroach under your foot at night could mean more are lurking nearby. Don’t despair, though: this research could have a positive impact on pest control, potentially giving

Basketball star LeBron James has yet to decide where he’ll play next season, much to the consternation of fans in his home in Cleveland and here in New York. In a huge New York spread last month, restaurateur Jean-Georges Vongerichten offered James “Free dinners as long as he wants. I’ll feed him whatever he likes—double chickens” should he come to the Knicks.

(WSB photo from last month, showing where the top of the new ramp will be ‘fused’ to the old roadway) SDOT mentioned it during the “media tour” we covered on the new 4th Avenue offramp in May – and now, they’re sending out a reminder: When they are ready to connect that new ramp from the eastbound Spokane Street Viaduct to the existing roadway, they will have to close the right-hand eastbound lane for up to six weeks – meaning a traffic bottleneck between 99 and I-5. (On the bright side, they had said in May that it could last up to EIGHT weeks.) Read on for the advance warning SDOT sent around Tuesday night: This summer, crews working on the Seattle Department of Transportation’s (SDOT) Spokane Street project will begin the final step to complete the new eastbound Fourth Avenue off-ramp, connecting the ramp to the upper roadway. The work is expected to start in early July and take up to six weeks, requiring the closure of the eastbound right-hand lane of the upper roadway, between First and Fourth avenues
