The Wine Village wine festival held at tvenhatosok tere (near Heroes’ Square) in mid-August every year(was planned for 19th-23rd August, 2009) has apparently been cancelled due to unresolved permit issues between the organiser and the city authorities. Hopefully the International Wine & Champagne Festival in Buda Castle (3rd-13th September, 2009) will be held and wine lovers living in or visiting Budapest will have the opportunity to taste the finest wines of Hungary.

Wine Village (Borfalu) is Cancelled for This Year
Greetings fellow tipplers, We trust you are celebrating the end of the garbage strike (those of you who are Torontonians at least) and felt good about drinking during said strike because your empty wine bottles could go back for a refund rather than accumulate with the general detritus laying about the city. For those of you outside of the (416), you remained smug in your clean environs – immune from the apoplectic stink that occasionally wafted past on the streets of TO.

Mao Shan Wang, Strawberry, Rum n Raisin, Chocolate on waffle You can’t help but wonder what kind of a crazy guy would name an ice cream parlour after a cow’s mammary glands. Yes, I can see the anatomical connection, but you would suspect that either the fella’s a little kinky or he had watched the outrageous “Man vs Cow” fight scene from Kung Pow a few times too many. (Warning, some readers might find the following video disturbing).

We’ve just seen the new trailer for the new Tron film, legacy or something, the work of one Daniel Simon who joined us last year to inspire Honda and inflate himself: great that a car designer can branch out to such a level as to do films, though the vehicles I’ve seen so far aren’t quite up to the rest of his work. I’m not supposed to be reviewing him (already done that on Car Design News), but he did find this place, so worth a mention. F1, as we’ve come to call it, has a different name, but as every wall is covered with race-cars and signed helmets, and, in one space, a Ferrari surf-board, F1 has stuck

(As promised in a subsequent post , below is “Recipe #51,” a backdated recipe post that I finally finished!) Today I came up with a delicious original recipe as a way of incorporating more Omega-3′s & other nutrients into one’s diet. By substituting the usual standard “pesto” ingredient of pine nuts with walnuts & almonds, it’s possible to create a much healthier pesto, which is lower in fat by almost 4 grams! As usual, this recipe has been thoroughly taste-tested by some very picky eaters before receiving the “Cook. Eat

Bill O’Reilly For the last 5 years, I’ve had nothing but contempt for Bill O’Reilly and it appears that the sentiment shall continue unabated. Whereas most media outlets have refrained from showing the actual Erin Andrews Peepshow Video , Bill O’Reilly in what he described as an investigation deemed it necessary to show parts of the video yesterday- thankfully it was blurred and brief. Nothing says investigative reporting like airing a tape to millions of viewers and the continued explo

Manchester United’s Rio Ferdinand on how the club will bounce back from a turbulent summer It has been a frantic summer for Rio Ferdinand. There was a stag do in Tel Aviv, in which – for a dare apparently – he was photographed in the kind of stretched T-shirt and skimpy shorts that would not have looked out of place alongside Sacha Baron Cohen’s Bruno. Then there was a private jet to the Caribbean to marry his long-time girlfriend, Rebecca Ellison, and at the start of the month an interview w
The high priests of French gastronomy may not have been convinced that American chefs have arrived, but the market itself has spoken. Despite the limited success of American chefs on France’s competition circuit, where gastronomic legends such as Paul Bocuse have focused on showcasing American cooking talent, it’s the impossible waiting list at a young Chicagoan’s Parisian restaurant that has succeeded in capturing headlines in France and abroad. Daniel Rose, a New Trier graduate, would almos

A commenter and Bonita fan notes that the Williamsburg location may not be the only one closing : “To add to the conversation, I was at Bonita yesterday and the waitress said the Fort Greene location is being turned into a Marlow & Sons. ” Calls to both Bonita and Marlow yielded suspiciously tight-lipped employees who would neither deny or confirm the rumors, only saying the above comment didn’t come from them. Interesting ! Congrats Fort Greene.
