Pakistan links Hinduvta to Samjohota & Mumbai terror

Pakistan has provided an overwhelming body of proof and incontrovertible evidence  linking the Mumbai terrorist attack of November 2008 to the earlier explosion on board the Samjhauta Express. The Chief investigator of the Samjhauta Train bombing was the first victim of Mumbai–a victim of targeted killing. Recently several Hinduvata members in the Indian army were arrested in blowing up the Samjhota Express train which plies between Pakistan and India.

Pope John Paul II statue unveiled in Rome

Gianni Alemanno, mayor of Rome, has just inaugurated a statue of John Paul II in the courtyard of the Policlinico Gemelli, the hospital to which the Pope was taken whenever he needed hospitalisation (9 times to be precise). The 5 metre-high statue created by Stefano Pienotti and blessed by Cardinal Dziwis has been called Non abbiate paura or Don’t be afraid after the famous phrase John Paul pronounced on the day he was elected to the papacy (22 October 1978). Mr Alemanno said that the Policlinico Gemelli has come to symbolise the love that Rome and its people still feel for John Paul; and the statue – added the mayor – will give hope to all those in need of help

2nd Tolfa beef steak festival, near Rome

If you should be in Rome between 4 and 5 July and feel like enjoying a good beef steak and at the same time witnessing how a true Roman would eat a fillet, you can’t miss the famous Sagra della bistecca di Tolfa or Tolfa Steak Festival , an event organised by the Rione Cappuccini, which takes place every year. This much awaited event is entirely dedicated to porterhouse steaks taken specifically from a local breed of wild cattle; wild cattle that can still be seen roaming and grazing by the road from Santa Severa which leads to Tolfa

Vizio VO320E 32-inch LCD HDTV with Eco HD Performance

Vizio’s energy-efficient VO320E 32-inch LCD TV I’d like to elaborate on a theme I raised a couple of weeks ago regarding the amazing advances in technology. Free enterprise and capitalist competition sometimes (deservedly) get a bad rap for encouraging greed and gluttony, but the flip side is that this same competition is spurring firms to develop better products with a small physical and environmental footprint.

Rome: traffic policeman for a day

It all started some time ago with a letter written by Cosimo Teodoro Spinelli, a 62 year old officer from Brindisi, to Alemanno, mayor of Rome. In that letter the officer told Mr Alemanno about his old dream of himself controlling road traffic from the famous stand placed at the very heart of Piazza Venezia (Venezia square)! The officer has always been a big fan of Italian actor Alberto Sordi whom in one of his most loved films played the role of a traffic policeman, controlling the traffic in Piazza Venezia. Now Mr Spinelli, after making his dream come true, wants to go north and control road traffic in Turin, the city from which Juventus Football club, his favourite team in the whole world, hails!

The Most Expensive Whisky Ever Sold?

Just about every time I conduct either one of my whisky master classes or a whisky tasting event I am asked, “What is the most expensive whisky ever sold?” In fact I was asked this very question several weeks ago whilst in London. I’m both delighted and privilege to say that I never tire of this question because the answer is one of my own: the very (very) limited Dalmore 62yo. I’m also pleased to say that the customer in question (no names) brought this fine product to enjoy and not to collect.

German Whisky Festival 2008

At the recent Germany Whisky Festival it was another memorable event only this year there was an air of despondency hanging in the air – the pangs of recessions was clearly making its mark. Even I was starting to get depressed but for only a matter of seconds. My audience needed to be cheered up but I had all the tools with me… I quickly served them for my tasting The Dalmore 12 years old, The Dalmore 15 years old and the final viagra of the century the Dalmore 1974 limited edition
