Part of the reason for the expansion is to create a space that will serve as a coffee-and-dessert lounge, said Will Bauer, who is overseeing the project for the Hampden restaurant

David Burke, inventor of both the bacon candle and the cheesecake lollipop, will be in charge of the food operations at the giant Times Square Bowlmor. The 90,000 square foot space (the old New York Times Building) will hold 50 lanes, and food can be ordered to the lane or for takeout.

What a way to spend your weekends for a year! Helmer Toro, the owner of the group of famed New York bagel shops H&H Bagels was indicted for tax fraud, grand larceny, falsifying records, and violating labor law back in November. And yesterday the court handed down his sentence: 50 weekends in jail and a $500,000 fine to pay back what he stole over the last six years. Actually, it looks like they went easy on him.

Earlier today, EV Grieve brought the news that a new eco-friendly Italian restaurant is vying for the old Graceland deli space on the corner of East 2nd Street and A. He now learns that restaurant comes to us from Frank Prisinzano, the owner of Frank, Lil’ Frankies, and Supper, which sits just a block away. Prisinzano had a run in with Community Board 3 last July when they wouldn’t give him a pass on his lapsed liquor license for Supper due to community complaints.

The owners of the oft-crowded East Village restaurant The Smith have long said that their concept is ripe for expansion, and it almost happened once when they were eying the old Sheridan Square space in the West Village. It looks like they’ve moved their target north. According to Community Board 6′s upcoming full board agenda , the restaurant group is seeking a full liquor license for 956 Second Avenue , between 50th and 51st Streets, right by the new location of Crave.

Switcheroos: New Owners Add Some Superdive Flair to Paladar
There’s a new Amish farmers’ market in Baltimore, in a former bingo hall in Cherry Hill. Patapsco Dutch Farmers’ Market, at 3321 Annapolis Road, opened about two weeks ago with 15 vendors, who travel from Lancaster, Pa., to sell their meats, eggs, cheese, butter and milk, baked goods, soft pretzels and ice cream, and prepared meals like barbecued chicken, ribs and fried chicken. There is also a sit-down restaurant, called Maria’s Dutch Kitchen.
