Whole Earth Bakery & Kitchen reviewed by Justinelinn on August 5, 2010

Whole Earth Bakery is amazing! I’ve been going here for years and it’s the only place in the city that I can find vegan, wheat-free and sugar-free baked items. Many places offer vegan treats, but all contain wheat or sugar, others are wheat-free but not vegan or sugar-free. This place does it all! For vegans and those with food allergies, Whole Earth Bakery is a godsend.

A Quick Lunch at Zo

Quick to say, quick to serve, quick to eat! Normally I don’t venture out to Government Center for lunch as it’s about a mile from my office, but today was a good day to catch up with an old friend who works around there. Due to a massive blister on my heel (ouch!), I hopped the T instead of walking, and it was a quick enough ride to Zo. Gyros, wraps, spanakopita, dolmadakia, baklava – it’s all

Mangal 2, Dalston

One of the great ethnic food styles of London, I’ve never had an ocakbasi (translating as far as I can tell as simply ‘charcoal grill’) that’s been anything less than decent, and they have the potential to be very good indeed. Yet bizarrely, they also seem to be one of the most overlooked cuisines in the capital, certainly next to Chinese or Vietnamese or Indian/Pakistani. At the risk of sounding patronising, I can’t help feeling they often only have themselves to blame – I’ve known many a very impressive ocakbasi grill (characterised by their huge extractor hoods) hiding towards the back of the restaurant, while pride of place in the shop window goes to two columns of sweaty doner meat and a tray of deep-fried chicken.

Return to Rosamunde Sausage Grill – San Francisco, CA

Smoked Chicken Sausage with Cherries It’s been more than a year since my last visit.  It’s been eighteen long months since I ate at this heavenly sausage grill but I’m here to report that the sausages remain as delicious as my memory. Rosamunde Sausage Grill in San Francisco today has two locations, besides the original they are now in the Mission District.  I returned to the Lower Haight location with my niece, to introduce her to this savory institution. We walked here from my house and back again, as a bargaining chip for eating one and a half sausages each

Onalaska considering outdoor drinking restrictions

The new Wisconsin workplace smoking ban might make it trickier for Onalaska restaurants/bars to serve liquor on their outdoor decks. The city is considering requiring a new beer garden license that would prohibit serving liquor or playing loud music on outdoor decks between 10 p.m. and 10 a.m, a proposal many restaurant owners see as restricting their businesses as well as their patrons.

What are the health benefits of becoming a vegetarian?
