I am always delighted when I watch movies that depict university politics, and even more when said motion picture is filmed at the actual university where I’ve taught and where I did my Masters and PhD (The University of British Columbia, UBC). Had I known about this movie the last time I taught Environmental Policy and Politics at UBC, I would have assigned it as required for viewing The movie is, as you can imagine, showcases an outstanding climate researcher who is studying lightnings.

I recently received an email from FUN (Friends United for Nature) and given the environmental focus of my blog and my interest in non-profits, I thought I’d write about them. James was kind enough to send me a plethora of information about FUN: Friends Uniting for Nature (FUN) Society is a not-for-profit organization that run summer day camps off of the UBC camps. We teach youth ages 8-16 about sustainability, the environment and leadership.

In the hip Fairfax district near the fantastic Animal Restaurant , there’s The Golden State Cafe , a cheap “gourmet fast-food” joint that features food and drinks from California, I.E. they have gelato from Scoop and hot dogs from Let’s be Frank . It seems to be a rather risky concept, since it’s not that far to go to those places, and the menu is small
