Copenhagen may lack the instantly recognisable iconic sights that define so many global cities, but this is not necessarily a bad thing. Visitors to many countries nowadays spend their time traipsing from one photo opportunity to another and leave little time to get to know the feel of the city around them. This is not the case in Copenhagen .

Munich has long enjoyed an enviable reputation in the German speaking world as one of the most attractive cities in Europe, making it popular as a place to visit and, for many people, to move to permanently. In the English speaking world, however, the city’s renown seems based almost entirely on Oktoberfest and the associated large scale drinking of beer. This perhaps says quite a lot about the associated cultures but is also unfair, so this is a list of the best sites in Munich which deserve more attention than they get.

This means two things: summer is a comin’ and it’s holiday time. Since the Ibiza nightlife is nothing if not extensive, this will have to be a brief overview bringing you the highlights in no particular order and skimming over the countless, and often nameless, clubs and bars that regularly spring up before disappearing again the next week. Perhaps the most impressive club, as well as the most appropriate name, is Amnesia

Helsinki is Finland ’s capital and was originally founded in 1550. Known as the “ Daughter of the Baltic ”, it has been the nation’s capital since 1812. At that time the tsars of Russia began rebuilding the city, giving it the appearance of a miniature St. Petersburg in some cases. Helsinki is a popular tourist destination , especially during the comfortably warm summer months when the locals frequent the many outdoor bars and cafés

In terms of largest freshwater and natural (not manmade) lakes of a continent, and in terms of volume, all other European lakes pale in comparison to Lake Geneva in Switzerland . Additionally, there are not many winter ski vacation destinations that can compete with this area either. Interestingly enough, 60% of the lake is governed by Switzerland while the other 40% is governed by France. However, this does not detract from the allure of this destination nor its amazing landscape during any season of the year.

I’ve given up on sushi in London. I’ve tried, honestly I’ve tried – this isn’t a decision I’ve reached based on a handful of trips to Itsu and a pre-flight binge at Yo! Gatwick Airport. I’ve been all over the place – to Tsuru in Southwark, Ten Ten Tei in Soho, even travelled to Willesden Green, for goodness’ sake – nobody should ever have to do that

Malls are something more than a cultural phenomenon in Dubai – it could be said that the lifeblood of the city flows through them. They’re more than places to just visit and grimly look at overpriced clothes. They’re everything. People come to drink coffee, relax, watch films, eat, do grocery shopping, buy gifts, walk around, play arcade games, smoke Shisha (Arabian water pipe), and even get their car windows tinted.

Raquel Laneri, writer for Forbes and author of her own blog, Electric Warrior , packed an overnight back and grabbed her Mr Smith to blog for us from the Gramercy Park Hotel in New York Exquisitely manicured, fantastically quiet and unusually secluded: Gramercy Park in New York City. You need a key to get in and out, and in order to get one you must own one of the apartments located on the perimeter, which cost millions of dollars. I have often walked by imagining what it would be like to luxuriate in the sun there, to take quiet strolls and be one of the elite key-holders in the city.
