Let’s Talk Chuckwagon Cookin’

The Chuck Wagon     Cowpuncher’s cafay,
It is that-o-way,
An’ we strike it kerslam ’bout three times
a day;
When the cook yells, “Come get it!”
He don’t have to please,
”Hi yip! all you logies, come gather your feed.” Robert V. CarrCowboy Lyrics, (1908) Legend has it that in 1866 a Texas cattleman by the name of Charles Goodnight invented the Chuck Wagon while blazing the rugged west.

Bye Bye, Chicken Pie

Sometimes (my husband would say, often) I become obsessed with a recipe that doesn’t work, and I have to make it work, even if that means making the same thing four times and driving my family crazy discussing changes and additions. “NO,” he’ll say, calmly, “I REALLY DON’T THINK IT’S GOING TO MAKE THAT MUCH DIFFERENCE IF YOU USE SEEDLESS RASPBERRY JAM INSTEAD OF THE KIND WITH SEEDS.

Look at Me; I’m A Blushing…

Grapefruit! February is National Grapefruit Month!!!Grapefruit; I don’t know what it is about the “forbidden fruit” of Barbados.” I wouldn’t feel at all deprived if I never had a dish of grapefruit set before me again. It isn’t that I’m opposed to all things grapefruit, on the contrary, like most citrus fruit I’ve encountered in my “lifetime,” grapefruit seems quite the versatile little “fellow.”

Shrove-tide Tidbits & Delicacies

The tradition of celebrating Shrove-tide is quite frankly, as old as the hills. There are many wonderful websites and blogs that tell of the history of Shrove-tide, Carling Sunday, Collop Monday and “Shrove Tuesday”, “Fat Tuesday” or as we are more likely to call it, “Pancake Day.” “Throwing Pancakes on Shrove Tuesday in Westminster School” At the last minute, I decided to include the resource

Girls’ Generation – Oh! music video

Music video of Oh! by Korean pop group Girls’ Generation , title track of their second full length album which has just been released… Cute video, but boring song. The Koreans seem to like it though; the lyrics obviously hit the right spot (girls’ love confession to guys) among the male fans as the album is selling like hot cakes and set to top every major music charts.
